5 Reasons To Hire A Coach

What’s the big idea about having a coach?  Are you wondering why would anybody hire one? I can help you with that.

Personal and professional coaches help you FOCUS on becoming who you want to be.  They help you develop executable plans. For example, you may know exactly who you are now, who or what you’d like to be in the future, but don’t know how to get there.  Then you need a coach.

Coaches also help you navigate confounding interpersonal and business situations. When you find yourself in these tough positions, you don't have to go it alone – hire a coach. You wouldn't give it a second thought if you or a loved one were learning a new sport.  You would hire a coach in a heart beat.  Well...

Let me give you 5 good reasons to hire one now.

  1. You want to make a change and don’t know how.

If you’re asking yourself “how do I change careers; how do I modify my behavior for a more successful outcome of something I want”?  A coach can assist you in exploring what’s right for you.  Through a series of questions, a coach can help you define for yourself the behaviors that keep you stuck where you are and how to modify them.  You will have to do the work, but you will have an objective advisor to guide you to success.
  1. You need accountability.

We all need someone to hold us accountable for commitments, timelines, and decisions.  Why do you think you perform better at work than perhaps you do in your personal life?  It’s likely because your boss expects you to deliver quality results as promised and on time.  You work up to what’s expected of you. The same holds true in your personal life.  It’s easy to procrastinate or even make excuses for not accomplishing personal goals.  After all, you probably didn’t tell anyone what you were  striving for, so no one is the wiser.  Tell a coach!  A coach will lead you in determining the importance and priority of your goals and help you stay on track to achieving them.
  1. You need help making decisions.

Most people can decide small things like what kind of car to buy, how to save for an expensive vacation trip, which school is best for your kids, etc.  However, deciding things like when to switch jobs, move out of the country, whether it’s worth it to return to school, or start a business may be more difficult.  There are so many variables to consider.  For these type decisions, an objective ear and guidance from a coach may be just what you need.
  1. You want honest feedback.

You’ve heard that “it’s lonely at the top”.  That is absolutely true for executives at the top of the corporate ladder. But it can be lonely anywhere along the business leader spectrum, especially when it comes to getting honest feedback.  You long to know what’s really on people’s minds, but they just give you what they think you want to hear. Bosses can be notoriously deficient in knowing how to give both positive and constructive feedback.
A professional coach may be the best sounding board for you.  You will receive honest feedback about your leadership skills, communication style, decision-making, and other key characteristics needed to be the best leader that you can.

  1. You want to save time.

Invest in yourself by hiring a coach.  This may be the best decision you make, especially if you want to reach your goals steadfastly.   Coaches keep you from floundering around, trying to figure out direction and appropriate steps you need to take to get on with your life.  Coaches help you choose a path and implement your plans confidently and effectually.

Look at your life.  Where could you benefit from objective guidance and support?   Invest in yourself.  Hire a coach.
